Mega Data Collection

Data collection is the first step in building EasyAR Mega spatial maps and a key factor determining the final Mega localization experience quality. Only by completing high-quality data collection can subsequent mapping and localization processes proceed smoothly.
This module introduces how to capture environmental video data using supported devices to provide high-quality raw materials for mapping.

Below shows the position of data collection in the entire Mega workflow:

Supported devices

EasyAR Mega offers flexible collection solutions to adapt to different-scale scene requirements:

  • Mobile Collection: For small-to-medium-scale scenes like small spaces or objects.
  • Panoramic Camera Collection: For large-scale spaces like mall atriums, streets, or squares. Panoramic cameras capture 360° environmental information at once, with 3-4x higher efficiency than phones and fewer localization blind spots.
    • Currently only supports GoPro MAX 1st generation

Data collection method selection

Use panoramic cameras or mobile devices to collect target data. Choose the appropriate workflow based on your application scenario.

Collection Method Applicable Scenarios Collection Device Collection Duration
Standard Single-map Large spaces (malls, museums) GoPro Max Within 128 minutes
Large-scale Space Extra-large spaces (scenic areas, streets) GoPro Max Default 5 × 128 min (extendable via contact sales)
Small-space Mobile Small spaces (rooms, shops, showrooms) iPhone/ARCore Android phone Within 15 minutes
Object-specific Mobile Single objects (exhibits, equipment, goods) iPhone/ARCore Android phone Within 15 minutes
