Upgrade mapping using original metadata

This article details the complete workflow for upgrading mapping with original metadata in both single-map and multi-map scenarios, including task creation, data upload, mapping operations, and result viewing, helping users complete mapping version upgrades while keeping the original coordinate system unchanged.

Use original data for single-image mapping upgrade

Log in to the EasyAR Developer Center, select Mega Block -> Block mapping from the left menu bar, choose the corresponding project address, and click the Manage button to enter the mapping task interface.

Enter project management interface

Create a single-image lossless update task

  1. Select the single-image task that requires lossless upgrade and click the Lossless point cloud upgrade button.
    Click the lossless upgrade button

  2. Fill in the following information in the pop-up window:

    Single-image lossless

  • Task name: Enter the name of this lossless update task.
  • Data location: Select Lossless upgrade.
  • Mapping version: It is recommended to use the latest version V9.
  • Data format: It is recommended to use the latest version 3-a.
  1. After confirming all the information is correct, click the Confirm upload button to submit the task. The upload progress and status will be displayed in the list.
During the data upload process, ensure the computer remains powered on and the network connection is stable. Do not close the browser, refresh the page, or click other menus, as this will interrupt the upload and require restarting the operation.

Start mapping

After the upload is completed, the task will automatically enter the Under review state, as shown in the figure below.

Mapping under review

Once approved, the task will automatically enter the mapping process, with the status displayed as In queue or Generating, as shown in the figure below. Please wait patiently for the mapping to complete.

Mapping in progress

Confirm the mapping result

After the task enters the mapping process, you can determine whether the mapping task is completed by checking the task status. When the status shows task completed or generation failed, it means the mapping task has ended.

Mapping task completed

Mapping successful

When the task status shows Task completed, it means the mapping is successful and the mapping results have been generated. At this point, you can further check the mapping results to confirm whether they meet the expected requirements.

Mapping failed

When the task status shows Generation failed, it means the mapping has failed. It is recommended to troubleshoot the issue in the following ways:

  • View the mapping report: View the mapping report and find solutions based on the report information.
  • Refer to troubleshooting: Check the Mapping failure troubleshooting guide for solutions to common problems.
  • Contact technical support: If none of the above methods resolve the issue, contact EasyAR staff and provide the JobID from the mapping report for quick problem identification.

Use original data for multi-image mapping upgrade

Log in to the EasyAR Developer Center, select Mega Block -> Block mapping from the left menu bar, choose the corresponding project address, and click the Manage button to enter the mapping task interface.

Enter project management interface

Create a multi-map lossless update task

  1. Select the multi-map task that requires lossless upgrade and click the Lossless point cloud upgrade button.

Add sub-mapping

After creating a multi-map lossless update task, you need to add a sub-mapping task for each independent collection area.

  1. Click Multi-map fusion management to enter the corresponding multi-map fusion management interface.

  2. Click Add sub-mapping, enter the task name, and click Confirm to create a sub-map. Please note that each independent collection area requires a separate sub-mapping task.

Upload data

  1. Copy the name of the multi-image task that requires lossless upgrade, and click the Upload data button under the corresponding task.

Start multi-image lossless upgrade mapping

The operation process for multi-image lossless upgrade mapping is the same as multi-image fusion mapping. For specific steps, please refer to the Start large mapping section.

Confirm the mapping result

When the task enters the mapping process, you can determine whether the mapping task is completed by checking the task status. When the multi-image lossless update task status shows task completed, mapping result not ideal, or generation failed, it indicates that the mapping task has ended.

Mapping task completed

Mapping successful

When the task status shows Task completed or Mapping result not ideal, it means the mapping is successful and the mapping result has been generated. After multi-map mapping is completed, the results will be displayed in the multi-map fusion management interface.

Mapping result description:

  • Task completed: Mapping is completed and fusion is successful, resulting in a complete Mega Block.

  • Mapping result not ideal: Mapping is completed but fusion is poor, resulting in multiple Mega Blocks. Mapping result not ideal

When the status Mapping result not ideal appears, it is recommended to perform the following checks and verifications:

    • Collection route compliance: Ensure the collection route complies with the specifications and meets the overlap requirements between sub-maps. (Reference: Collection specifications)
    • File upload completeness: Ensure all files have been uploaded without omission. (Reference: Preview uploaded files)
    • Collection area coverage: Ensure the collection area covers all requirements without missed areas. (Reference: Review collection route)
    • Manual association accuracy: If manual association mapping was performed, ensure the sub-map relationships are specified accurately. (Reference: Manual association mapping)

If any of the above issues are found, you can correct them and recreate the task. If all checks are confirmed correct, please contact us for assistance.

Mapping failed

When the task status shows Generation failed, it means the mapping has failed. It is recommended to troubleshoot the issue in the following ways:

  • Check the mapping report: View the mapping report and find solutions based on the report information.
  • Refer to troubleshooting: Check the Mapping failure troubleshooting guide for solutions to common problems.
  • Contact technical support: If none of the above methods resolve the issue, contact EasyAR staff and provide the JobID from the mapping report for quick problem identification.
